Into the Bronze

So I read the Other Day that Hollywood is doing a Remake of one of my All time Favorite Films, Clash of the Titans.

For those who may not be familiar with the Story, its the Tale of Perseus and his Quest to Save Princess Andromeda from the Kraken, by Killing the the Gorgon Medusa and Turning the Kraken to Stone using Medusa's Head.

Anywho, in Remaking the Story, they retooled it also, Making Hades the Antagonist. Thats right Hades is the Bad Guy once More. This is Something that really Pisses me off. Hades, for those reading this who may not be familiar with him, is Not an Evil God, he is in no way the Equivalent of the Devil, He is the God of the Underworld, Unfortunetly, his Job Sucks "Keeping Order and Rule in the Land of the Dead"

These are not Fictianal Characters they are Gods, My Gods, and the Gods of Many others also. But Hollywood doesnt see this. They see these Gods as Characters they can Play with. It's Theology.

The Story is already Written, the Original "Clash of the Titans" wasnt 100% true to the Original, but the Main Idea was there. What they Are suggesting now is a total reimagining of the Tale.

Why dont they Do this with Christian Based Stories, lets take the Nativity Story, We'll Have Jesus, Mary,.... Moses & Job, and it's Moses's Mission to Save Jesus, From Job, who was told BY GOD to Kill him in order to Prove his devotion. Sounds like an Awesome Plot to me, Lets Cast Steven Segal as Moses, and and that Girl From Twilight as Mary.

THAT STORY WOULD NEVER MAKE IT PAST ANYONE!!!!! And f it were to get someones interest, the Movie Would still never get made. It Would be Stopped by the Higher Rulling Folk in the Vatican.

So Why is it that We Pagans Let this Happen, we have the Power to "Stop Demonizing our Gods!" IMO this is One of the reasons Paganism is thought of as "Evil" Because we dont fight Back when we see people (Hollywood, Writers, Musicians etc...) Taking our Stories, our Gods and Twisting them until they are Unrecognizable, even to us. Taking Gods who are Not evil, and making them that Way simply because they need a Bad Guy. Or Taking our Traditions and Rituals and Making then Ugly. Everyone of You have Seen Movies like this,,, For Example:

The Adventures of Sinbad (2003): Main Villain, Eris
Xena Warrior Princess: Main Villain, Ares (But in various Stories its been Other Gods)
Clash of the Titan Remake : Main Villain Hades
The Wicker Man: Main Villain: A Cult Needing Human Sacrefice
Disney's Hercules :  Main Villain, Hades

This is Just a Few of the Stories, I can go on if you Like, but I'm Sure that Anyone Reading this Can can add to the List Yourself.

I wrote a Letter to WB/Legacy, Who is doing the Remake, I Pretty Much Wrote the Same as you've read here. I Urge you, if this Pisses you off too, then Write to them and Let them Know.

I am Tired of Having my Spiritual Beleifs Demonized, for the Sake of Entertainment.
